Georgina Athanasiou brings an extensive legal background with diverse experience in both the corporate and public sectors to our team. She currently serves as a Partner at Harris Kyriakides, focusing primarily on banking law, corporate restructuring, and civil litigation. Her expertise extends to representing significant banking institutions in Cyprus, advising on non-performing loans, asset management, and restructuring agreements.
Georgina's commitment to legal education and reform is demonstrated through her involvement in legislative research and reform projects. Notably, she contributed to the drafting of legislation on press and web communication laws and has been an active participant in initiatives aimed at reforming civil procedure laws in Cyprus.
Aside from her legal practice, Georgina leads as the President of the Board at NGO Oxygono, a role that underscores her leadership in promoting transparency and justice. She also plays a pivotal role in the Cyprus Forum, contributing to high-level discussions aimed at policy and economic reform.
Her academic contributions include authoring chapters and articles on Cyprus banking law and alternative sentencing, reflecting her deep understanding and analysis of complex legal issues. Georgina holds an LLB and an LLM in Criminal Law & Human Rights from the University of Cyprus, and she is a proud member of the Cyprus Bar Association. Her multilingual proficiency in Greek, English, and French complements her international and local legal practice, making her a versatile and insightful advocate for her clients and a valued educator at our center.
