Rafaella Georgiou is an experienced practitioner in the areas of Banking and Finance Law in Cyprus.
She graduated with an LLB from the University of Cyprus with an award of Excellence, before moving on to postgraduate study in the fields of Banking and Finance. She holds a PG Cert in Commercial and Corporate Law, a PG Dip in Corporate and Securities Law from the University of London, and an LLM in Banking and Finance Law again from the University of London.
She excelled in the Bar Exams of the Legal Council of the Republic of Cyprus, notably achieving the first position among all candidates nationwide, and was admitted as a member of the Cyprus Bar Association.
Rafaella is a Partner at Stelios Stylianides & Co LLC, where she heads the Banking & Finance practice. She has been extensively engaged by banking institutions and credit acquiring companies, handling regulatory affairs, credit restructuring, security provision, as well as general consumer and business lending affairs and recoveries. She has also been heavily involved in litigation in these areas, handling complex legal issues before first instance and appellate courts nationwide.
Her expertise further extends to the areas of insolvency, corporate and commercial litigation, and financial derivatives including bonds, swaps, and securities.
Among her notable contributions to both the practitioner and academic sectors, is her major contribution to the book "Cyprus Banking Law" (NOMIKI BIBLIOTHIKI, 2021). Her language skills in Greek, English, and French, combined with her legal acumen, position her as a valuable asset in the field of banking law in Cyprus.
