Stella C. Koukounis graduated from the University of Sheffield with an LL.B. with honours and followed a specialisation as a Barrister at the Nottingham Law School. Stella is a Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn.  Stella extended her studies in corporate and commercial law at University College London where she was awarded an LL.M.

On her return to Cyprus, Stella completed her pupillage at a well-known commercial firm in Nicosia before embarking on a career spanning 16 years, with a particular focus on the wide ambit of corporate, commercial, banking and financing law.  Her clients are primarily high-net-worth groups based abroad and include private equity funds, family offices, groups of companies in the IT, Media and Entertainment sectors as well as in the raw material sector. Stella has been the head of corporate of a leading corporate service provider managing a team of over 25 employees in the period 2013 to 2015, before her decision to set up Solsidus Law. Between 2015 and 2021, was the designated legal advisor and representative of a Swiss family office and their operations in Cyprus, which included the creation from an initial small team to the development of a team of over 15 professionals while leading a number of real estate, securities and investment related projects complimented by in-house and external legal, accounting and other professionals. Amongst her duties were the ongoing legal and business on-the-job training of the employees. In 2022 and 2023 Stella has been chosen as the designated advisor for the issue of certified green bonds and development of PV projects in Cyprus and abroad. Stella serves in the board of directors of a well-known payments company.

Solsidus Law (S. KOUKOUNIS & PARTNERS LLC) is a commercial law firm based in Nicosia, Cyprus. The law firm operates under the supervision and licence of the Cyprus Bar Association. Its partners and associates are all UK-educated lawyers and practise Cypriot law, with a strong focus on Corporate and Commercial, Tax as well as Banking and Financing. Some of the firm’s most notable projects include acting as the borrower’s counsel in the financing and re-financing of multi-million Euro facilities with international institutional lenders, representing high-tech software companies based in Europe with satellite offices in non-EU jurisdictions, advising Boards of Directors of Cypriot lending institutions in restructuring procedures, and advising end-clients on structuring joint ventures for investments in Cyprus as well as central EU jurisdictions with the use of Cypriot entities. The firm was chosen in 2022 and 2023 to advise on the licensing and organisation of a world-class music festival and continued to legally support events through 2024 showcasing some of the world’s record-breaking and award-wining DJs of electronic and rock music.

The firm’s founder has been awarded the coveted Client Choice award for two consecutive years, 2015 and 2016 in Corporate Tax and is frequently invited as speaker in international conferences on matters of Cypriot law. Solsidus Law’s article on Green Bonds was awarded as “Thought Leader” in Spring 2022, having earned the highest number of readership amongst peers. Two additional “Thought Leader” awards followed for the firm, the latest one in 2024 on Payment Systems.
